We are proud to present the legendary Tuxmath, rewritten in Javascript/HTML5. This allows you to play TuxMath (without having to install it), from any web browser, but also on phones and tablets. This new version of Tuxmath was created as part of the Afrikalan project, which aims to make free educational software accessible in West Africa. If you like this application, we invite you to discover and support the actions of the Afrikalan project toward schools and libraries in West Africa.
The Original version of TuxMath is available on the Tux4Kids website: http://www.tux4kids.com/tuxmath.html. A large part of the graphic and sound elements come from the original version.
Some improvements have been made in this new version:
This application is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License, which gives you the right to use and share it freely. The computer source code is accessible to any person who want it at https://gitlab.com/Afrikalan/tuxmath-js.
It is possible to provide a direct URL to a level. (useful for teachers who would like their pupils to practice a given multiplication table for example).
To do this, go to http://www.tuxmath.org, then in the menu, right-click on the desired level, and select "Copy link location". You get a URL of the form http://tuxmath.org/game.html?lvlId=xxxxxxxxxx, where xxxxxxxxxx is the selected level.
It is possible to add different options to the URL:
Option | Effect | Possible values |
---|---|---|
&opt_lang=X | Sets the game language (replace X with the desired language). | X=fr french. X=en english. X=es spanish. |
&opt_autolevel=X | Enables or disables automatic level switching when the selected level is too easy or too difficult for the pupil. (disabled by default) | X=1 enabled. X=0 disabled (default). |
&opt_theme=X | Selects the game theme (replace X with the desired theme). | X=classic (default). X=original. X=afrikalan. |
&opt_osk=X | Shows or hides on screen keyboard. | X=1 Show OSK. X=0 Hide OSK. |
For example the URL http://www.tuxmath.org/game.html?lvlId=mul_table_5&opt_lang=en&opt_osk=1 will lead directly to the "multiplication table of 5" level, ensuring that the selected language is english and that the virtual keyboard is enabled.

Afrikalan also involves creating educational content adapted to the cultural context in which these educational computers are given
