LyX is a wordprocessor frontent to LaTeX, which gives both the
ease-of-use of a wordprocessor, and the flexibility and power of LaTeX.

Platforms:      X11R5 or X11R6 needed.  LaTeX2e necessary to
preview/print,
		xdvi or ghostview needed to preview, dvips or other driver
		needed to print.  Xforms library needed to compile.  Contact
		mailing list lyx@via.ecp.fr with bug reports, patches, etc.

LyX-0.8.3 is available as source-only at 

ftp://ftp.via.ecp.via.fr/pub/lyx (always has latest source)

and with an a.out linux binary (libXpm statically linked since some
libXpm libraries are incompatibile with Xforms) at my Web-site

it is an http link, though, not an ftp link, so you should make sure
your browser is set to download to a file, rather than try to view, the
file.
